Beginner Watercolor Painting: Vibrant, Energetic Abstract Color Fields

Welcome to class! Let’s paint wonderful abstract color field paintings together!

In this beginner class, we will create fun and easy abstract watercolor paintings. 🙂 I’ll be with you every step of the way, as we paint and explore our watercolors through abstract color field painting.

First, we will take a look at our color wheel and choose our colors. I hope to inspire you to be very brave and choose contrasting colors to create vibrant, energetic paintings!

Next, I’ll we’ll chat a little about the composition “Rule of Thirds”.

Once we have our plan for colors and composition, we are on to painting! I demonstrate 3 different color fields you can paint to create a cohesive collection (a set!) of paintings that you can frame and hang on your wall, use for craft projects, or even backgrounds for hand lettering.

I focus on the basics, explaining each step as we paint together.

We will practice watercolor techniques through our painting process, such as flat washes, gradient washes, and more. I walk you through the entire process, real time, and share my thoughts, tips, and tricks along the way.

So, I hope you will join me and explore watercolor together!

And, almost like magic, our watercolor skills will grow!
